Another year, another funding drive. This is my 9th with the Fat Beat Diet, and things have been going crazy. I’ve been super buys putting together the mix incentives tfor this year, and I’ve still got a lot to do in the 8hrs that remain between now and my show.
As I’ve written in the past, CJSW?s annual funding drive runs Friday October 22nd through to the 29th. For one week every year we take a break from being the best radio station in town, and ask you, our listeners, to help us out.
All the money raised during our annual Funding Drive campaign goes towards our capital budget (like it always does), paying for everything from maintaining our fancy new 4000 watt broadcast tower, to our CD players, our headphones, and all the other costs associated with running a radio station.
Thanks to your support, CJSW has expanded its presence in the community as well! CJSW is everywhere! We?re out supporting Calgary?s many festivals and community events, and we?re broadcasting live shows to you from local venues.
Pledging is easy. You can all the pledge line at 403-220-5000 between October 22nd and October 29th, or make a donation on-line at www.cjsw.com. Listen to CJSW 90.9 FM and check out www.cjsw.com everyday to find out about all the great swag we have to offer for pledges. Help us reach our goal of $200,000.
Funding Drive and the Fat Beat Diet
I run this blog at my own expense and all my time with CJSW is volunteer work. I do it for the love, but pledging to my show is your opportunity to show your support – and it is greatly appreciated.
When the station re-organized its nighttime schedule into 1hr blocks earlier this year, I was offered a slot on the venerable Friday night block, along side the Musicquarium, Dirty Needles, Fullmoon Funkalicious, and Remote Emissions. As much as I love those shows and hosts, I made the decision to stick it out on Thursday nights. I didn’t want electronic music and hip hop to be relegated to one night a week. If you appreciate this and enjoy hearing non-rock (not that there’s anything against rock…) at all hours of the day, I hope you’ll support me and other shows like Funk Sinden and Mental Illness which showcase these genres of music outside of Friday nights.
Fat Beat Diet Incentives
Once again this year, all donors of $25 or more to the Fat Beat Diet will receive a copy of Keep On Playin’, 2010’s upbeat/dance mix. Here’s a short sample of what to expect:
Keep On Playin' snippetI’ve also got two other mixes: Wobble Funk and The Book of Right On. The former is a mix of dubstep, drum’n’bass and future music while the latter is pretty much a hip hop mix. They’re each going to be going around the $75 mark.
Wobble Funk snippet The Book of Right On snippet$200 will get you all three mixes, plus all the tracks in unmixed form as well and a few other goodies (listen to the show for details)
We’ve also got a huge pile of CDs to sweeten the pot as well, including stuff from Neferiu Records and more.
If you?re a regular downloader but don?t listen to the show live on air, feel free to pre-pledge either by sending me an email (Preferred) with your address and phone number and the amount you?d like to pledge, or by donating via paypal on the cjsw site (send along a note that you?re donating specifically to the Fat Beat Diet). If you can do this before tonight’s show, that will greatly increase the chances of getting what you’re after.
Thanks!
